My research focuses mainly on the physicochemical characterization, crystallization and thermal degradation of polymers. The polymers investigated include synthetic and biodegradable materials such as polyamides, polyesters and poly(ester amide)s. The research carried out during my postdoctoral stay (1994-1996) in the H.H. Wills Physics Department at the University of Bristol (UK), led me to focus on the study of polymer crystallization, including kinetic analyses and models used to describe the process. This research also covers processing parameters and microstructural features, and their relationship to material performance for use in biomedical applications.
