Research Mercè Pacios received her PhD in Chemistry from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain) in 2011, with a dissertation focused on the use of carbon nanotubes as platforms for biosensors. In 2013, she was awarded a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship at the University of Oxford (UK), where her research centered on the properties of 2D materials and additive nanomanufacturing processes. In 2017, as a Beatriu de Pinós Postdoctoral Researcher at the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC), she worked on scalable manufacturing technologies for the cost-effective production of flexible materials. Her work specifically focused on the development of efficient materials for energy harvesting, particularly in the field of thermoelectricity. Finally, her research experience has been further enriched by her role as a research assistant at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), where she focused on the design of conductometric sensors based on 2D layered materials—such as graphene and transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs)—for monitoring climate change-related gases. |
