Research My research focuses on the study of biodegradable poly(ester amide)s (PEAs) derived from amino acids, diols, and carboxylic acids, to develop new materials for biomedical applications. I focus on the synthesis and characterization of a specific PEA, PADAS (obtained from L-alanine, 1,12-dodecanediol, and sebacoyl dichloride), and on exploring its potential in tissue engineering and drug delivery through the preparation of composites, the design of scaffolds by electrospinning, and micromolding. In parallel, I am investigating water-soluble PEAs, studying how the diol chain length and amino acid type influence their solubility and properties, to hydrogels suitable for cell encapsulation. Overall, my research aims to understand how molecular structure and processing strategies can be tailored to create functional biomaterials that address key challenges in biomedical science. |
